The 4th Annual Ariana Television Network’s Awards show was held in Hamburg, Germany on Saturday, December 5th, 2009.  Your favorite Afghan celebrities and artists from all over the world were invited and given recognition for their achievements. The awards show reached a global television audience covering the majority of Afghans everywhere. It was a wonderful opportunity for supporting Afghan culture and the performing arts.

The recorded program will likely be broadcasted end of December or for new years.

Below is the list of 2009 award recipients (not in order):

Best Male Artist: Farhad Darya
Best Female: Naghma
Best New Male: Shekeb Osmani
Best New Female: Ghazal
Best Duo: Hafiz & Devyani Ali
Best Ghazal Artist: Najim Nawabi
Best Mahali Artist: Mir Maftoon
Best Album: Jawid Sharif (Kankaash)
Best Track: Bia Janam (Tawab Arash)
Best Music Video: Atish Ba Dilam (Valy)
Best Patriotic Song: Shahe Mardan (Jawid Sharif)
Best Lyrics: Maadar (Hafiy & Devyani)
Best Light Song: Dokhtar-e Afghan (Mozhdah)
Lifetime Achievement Award Recipients: Zahir Howaida, Afsana, Rahim Mehryar, Parasto, Ustad Arman, Madadi

AfghanMP3.com editor’s note:
Though better than last year’s show… like most of you, we felt that some of the awards given in certain categories were biased simply because certain artists have videos and program deals with Ariana Television Network.

No disrespect to Tawab Arash and Jawid Sharif – they’re both great artists, but by awarding Bia Janam and Shah-e Mardaan as Best Song and Best Patriotic Song of the year respectively, is ATN telling us that they are better than Latif Nangarhari’s Afghanistan or Farhad Darya’s Atan? Mozhdah’s Dokhtar-e Afghan for Best Light Song? You kidding me!

We are witnessing small but positive signs of Afghan music industry picking itself up through the production of better music and videos as well as tv programs… let’s hope that people in charge of such award and tv shows do justice by selecting and awarding the appropriate winners instead of playing favors or the usual biased politics.

Some fundemental changes are necessary, both by TV stations and our artists, if we want to see our music industry succeed in the right direction.

    Dear Reader,

Please please please, Take Vali out of the list. He is not a singer and irani shit singer. try to award someone who is really singer like Farhad darya and others in list
If you awarded Vali, this is meaning that you people also not know music and this is dishonesty with the singers.

    Regards,

    Rafi

The problem is that, “BIA JANEM” is a copy song and by awarding a copy song, ATN is encouraging the artist to go for copy songs.

Fardin Faryad didn’t participate in this Award ceremony even he got requests multiple times, for sure his new CD gul-e naaz is better than Jawid Sharif’s CD which is full of copy songs.

Participating in these Award ceremonies is very early for great artists, because now as there is corruption in Afghan government there is also in TVs. Things go according to the will of the TV directors not the people. You might say, well the people voted for the BESTS! well yeah! it was an online voting, only people who had and knew computer and internet could participate, not the whole population, so to speak from statistics point of view: this Award is totally Bias.

Wishing for the good in the future.

ARE YOU SERIOUSLY COMPARING FARDIN FARYAD TO JAWID SHARIF ???
Fardin Faryad is a good singer i like him i always listen to his songs but hes not better than Jawid Sharif, there was NO copy in Kankaash CD of Jawid Sharif it was by far the best album of the year! he deserved it, Gule Naaz was good too but not better than Kankaash!
TO Afghanmp3 editor, YES Bia janam shouldntv been best song it shouldve been Yari jani Labakait my opinion but Shahe Mardan deserved best patriotic Award !

I think there should have been an award for VALY’s Producer for making him sound good; you know with all that Studio Magic that was put into effect in order for us to even be able to listen to his off note, off tune (besur) singing. lol

i think every one is perfect but not Muzhdah
she is prostitute in the name of afghan
these type of shit people ride our country out of islamic values and afghani culture.
how ever im not too religious to be against music and enjoy, but im against such dirty people who are a big shame for our culture and values.
a simple example is, she started to sing in english instead of native language, it means she is perfect to be a western girl than using afghan name.
    and receiving afghan award.

The biggest problem with us Afghans is that we ourselves have no idea of what art is. Art cannot be sold. Its value is decided by the buyer or buyers. What Afghan people are doing is selling music. Most Afghans singers are market singers. They want to make money out music. You can’t do that.

In order to be a good musician you have to first master the art of music. This is not easy. You need to understand music and its language. Once you have achieved that then you should produce original music with proper instruments.

Most Afghan singers of today have not taken proper music lessons for the sake of learning the art. They have taken lessons just to understand the basics of the art. Then they produce music with artificial simulations using a keyboard.

There is a reason why Ahmad Zahir was Ahmad Zahir. This is reason why Farhad Darya is Farhad Darya. They have understood the art of music and know how to produce good music.

I hope that our young generation appreciate the art of music and not just want dance beats. Most of our artist are producing dance music nothing else. I guess this the message that our youngsters are sending. This is the Afghan music market: dance, nothing else.

    Hey Rafi,

what makes you to say Valy is Irani? He’s accent? That means you are so silly that don’t know that Afghanistan is a diversified nation and western part of Afghanistan speak Herati or somewhat Irani accents. But, doesn’t make them Irani. Secondly, why you have to point as Irani..You and your family worship Indian culture and movies. Then, I guess Iran has lots of close culture to us then India.

Valy has donated 2.5 million dollars to Afghanistan Hospitals, what the hell have you done? Don’t judge someone on their language or styles. Because that was not the point. The point was content of his song and art. Whatever he is, he has the support of people. On You Tube his vidoes crossed all countries in the region. People from all over the world watch his vidoes.

    Dear all;

Its really good that the ATN motivates the Afghan Singers infact it is quite appreciable, but as an Afghan culture we should always select the true, literate and real Afghan singers like farhad Darya and many more… to be nomenated.

and Valy Who the hell is he? is he really a singer?Does he really deserve to be awarded as an Afghan singer?? still it is not clear where he is really from? and as an proudful Afghan we should NOT let other people to mixed up our pure custome and cultures with the nieghbour countries such as Iran, Tajikistan and so on…

    Regards

    Fahima
